Valley of Shadow Devlog #4

Hello everyone! This has been, and continues to be, a busy month, so I'm going to keep this devlog short & sweet. It’s the end of June, and we have the following to report:

  1. Vault of Force Beta

  2. Vault of Fire Intro Scene

  3. Game Jam: Renewia

Vault of Force Beta

The Vault of Force is ready to play! We spent the majority of this month fixing bugs and polishing it. The beta is only puzzles & art right now - the narrative (namely voiceovers) is missing at the moment, and will be added in later, after we make some other forward progress on the game. To play the beta, head on over to our Discord & download it! Be sure to let us know what you think afterward. The main purpose of this beta is to get feedback on all aspects of the game, so we want to know your thoughts!

And of course, it wouldn’t be a Vault of Force update without a few screenshots.

Vault of Fire Intro Scene

With the Vault of Force art completely done (minus a few touch-ups based on feedback), Anthony has moved on to the Vault of Fire. The intro scene is about 90% done, and he has started dipping his toes into the Vault interior. It’s a very exciting time for both of us, and he is stoked to start playing around with a new aesthetic for this Vault!

Game Jam: Renewia

This is a bit off-topic, but still on brand. Anthony and I teamed up with a good friend of ours (and fellow MIVS alum) Nate Largo to participate in the GMTK Game Jam at the beginning of the month. The theme of the jam was “Joined Together”, so we made a first-person Myst-like called Renewia, wherein you “join together” various renewable energy sources in order to save nature. We made this whole game in <48 hours, so it’s a bit rough around the edges. But if this sounds up your alley, check it out!

That’s all I have for this month, I told you it would be a short one. Tune in next month, or better yet, come say hi in our Discord!
